I’m not one for all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I feel like it’s mandatory to say something about who I am and why this site exists. I am a child of the 1970s. The son of two musicians. A Minnesotan. A husband and father. A media professor. A documentarian. A writer. And many other labels. But labels do not make the man.
I am fascinated by history and the human condition. Why do people do the things they do and believe the things they believe? And I tend to come at these questions through a lens that others have not considered. Neither dogmatically left or right, I’m more of a plague on both your houses kind of guy.
I am particularly interested in, and concerned about, the spread of disinformation and conspiracy theories. My efforts on this front, particularly my documentary, Conspiracy Theorists Lie (2015), have made me persona non grata with people who have a vested interest in lies.
I am currently working on a nonfiction book, The Fake History of America, and developing a new website, the History Think Blog, with a specially tailored History Think chatbot. I hope to make history more accessible and to interest more people in the lessons the past has to offer us.
To keep up with everything I’m doing, be sure to sign up for my newsletter, And Now For Something Completely Different. I’ll do my best to keep each email short and to the point. Newsletters will also be archived on this website.

But certainly a strange time.
